The Cactus Gardens

Back to Lanzarote Attractions

The Cactus Gardens are one of César Manrique's last works, before he passed away. Here he has turned an old quarry into an impressive cactus plantation. The impressive collection of Cacti, which were selected by the Botanist Estanislao Gonzales Ferrer, features well over 1000 species of Cactus.

A restored windmill and strange metal sculptures make an impressive contrast against the dry volcanic landscape. Also a museum-garden of the island's indigenous cactus provides a thinking place for many.
